Endurance film premiere on 12 October 2024

The film ‘Endurance’ tells the astounding story of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton’s perseverance in the frozen pack ice as modern-day explorers search for his sunken ship. From @natgeodocs and directed by Chai Vasarhelyi, @jimmychinphotography and @Natalie Hewit, catch the world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 12 October 2024.

Congratulations to Mensun and all the Endurance 22 Team as well as the Falkland Islands Maritime Heritage Trust.

In 1915, the ship Endurance sank near Antarctica. Explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew miraculously survived. In 2022, the ship was discovered, some 3000m down. Documenting contemporary polar explorers and drawings on original expedition footage preserved and restored by the BFI National Archive, Endurance is an inspiring celebration of scientific curiosity and the indefatigable human spirit of discovery (Kirsty Matheson whatson.bfi.org.uk).
