Ministerial Appointments at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Defence
Following the recent UK General Election, The Rt. Hon Phillip Hammond MP retained his position as Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. The Rt. Hon. Michael Fallon MP also continues as Secretary of State for Defence.
At the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), The Rt. Hon. Hugo Swire MP (who visited the Falkland Islands in 2014) retained his position as the Minister of State responsible for the Falkland Islands at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Baroness Anelay of St Johns DBE also continues her responsibility for the Falkland Islands and all other FCO business at the House of Lords.
At the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Penny Mordaunt MP was appointed Minister of State for Operations and Force Generation; Mark Lancaster MP Minister of State with responsibility for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans; and Philip Dunne MP Minister of State with responsibility for Defence Procurement. All three have visited the Falkland Islands. The Rt. Hon. Earl Howe was appointed Deputy Leader of the House of Lords with responsibility for the Falkland Islands and all other MOD business in that Chamber.
